Mitzvah Day 2008: Repairing the World - One Mitzvah at a Time!  

Please join us and participate in Mitzvah Day at Or Chadash on Sunday, May 18, 2008. (Mitzvah Day will be held rain or shine.) Here is your chance to get involved in the Or Chadash community and have a huge impact on our world. The entire Or Chadash community is encouraged to donate just a few hours of time and we have projects for all ages and abilities. Some projects will be done at the Temple, and others will be done off-site.

Please consider making a donation to Mitzvah Day. All donations will help purchase Mitzvah Day supplies. You can donate by clicking on the DONATE button now, or in person on Mitzvah Day. Thanks in advance for supporting Mitzvah Day!

SCHEDULE

8:45 

Light breakfast, Mitzvah Day kickoff and Mitzvah Day blessing.
9:15 Mitzvah Day activities begin. Participants will depart from the Temple to begin their service projects or remain on site.
12:00 Programming concludes.

Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (SHIP)

SHIP serves Central New Jersey’s homeless and needy working families, as well as victims of drug dependency and HIV/AIDS, who are unable to obtain assistance from government or private agencies. SHIP runs mobile soup kitchen disaster units.

Decorate 60 lunch bags, make 60 Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches, and fill bags with fruit, juice and chips. Bag lunches will be distributed to needy school children.Or Chadash

Prepare Home Cooked Treats for:

Hunterdon Youth Shelter (HYS)

Group home for adolescent males who are no longer living with family.

Prepare chocolate cookie / treats for residents.Or Chadash

Art Table:

Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged, and


A Million Thanks
(cards for servicemen/women), and

Jewish World Watch

Create and design greeting cards and decorate potholders. Watch a movie about tzedakah!

The South Branch Watershed Association (SBWA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment in the watershed of the South Branch Raritan River.

Paint Activity Room and Car Wash

SAFE in Hunterdon


SAFE serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. SAFE in Hunterdon provides a 24-Hour Hotline, safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, children's programming, crisis intervention, and outreach within Hunterdon County.

Paint an activity room. Clean interior and exterior of cars and vans used for SAFE residents and wash other cars, too, while raising funds for SAFE.Flemington

Yard Clean Up of Anderson House

Anderson House is a residential program for women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Dedicated to providing quality treatment, Anderson House supports women as they develop the necessary goals and life skills to return to the community as responsible, productive and sober individuals.

*Except for the Art Table, children should be accompanied by an adult.

Mitzvah Day Registration  

  1. Choose your first and second choice projects to work on by registering HERE.
  2. This year we are also accepting monetary donations which will be used to purchase supplies for our Mitzvah Day program.
  3. Join us for a light breakfast at 8:45 a.m., with inspirational words from our clergy, mitzvah day blessings and songs.

Projects will run from 9:15 to noon. Please register by May 14, 2008
