Introducing our Religious School Programming for 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders – 2011/2012
We are very excited to present our 2011-2012 programming for our post Bar/Bat Mitzvah students. The objective of this program is to provide engaging activities and fun adventures while exploring our Jewish identity and recognizing and understanding our diversities. This year we are fortunate to be a participating synagogue in a pilot program of the Union for Reform Judaism, called Teen Philanthropy. We have received a grant for this program and students will be learning about social service agencies, meeting philanthropists and then making significant decisions on how the monies will be allocated throughout our community. Our goal is for our student to learn that sometimes it is financial, other times it is through the work of our hands, and there are times when what is most needed are our words, our guidance, our teaching others a skill. As essential to Jewish living as these ideas are, exploring these Jewish concepts needs to be more than an intellectual pursuit. Through a mix of social interaction, serious thought, dynamic guests, text study, film, food, interfaith explorations, and investigating the rich tapestry of Jewish living that exists not only in places like Israel, New York, and around the world, but more importantly, right here in Flemington, our look into how Judaism can speak to our lives and concerns promises to be filled with excitement and learning.
All of our programs include a meal (lunch or dinner). We will accommodate all special dietary needs.
Also, this year we are introducing a new program for our 10th, 11th and 12th graders: The Rabbi’s Study (TRS).
Yes---10th grade students will participate in both programs. Those programs are listed in BOLD.
