Welcome to Kindergarten at Or Chadash Religious School! As an introduction to Jewish education our goal is to fill each class with experiences, learning activities and opportunities to make new friends. We have designed our curriculum to involve all the senses (smell, touch, hearing, seeing, tasting) and to create sensory memory related to all the subjects being taught. Students are introduced to the holidays through the associated smells and tastes of holiday foods, how we celebrate with family, and ritual objects. We will also introduce students to the Hebrew alef-bet (alphabet) through coloring books activities, and songs and games. Our Kindergarten children will learn the Shabbat blessings (Kiddush, motzi, and candle lighting blessings) as well as the Chanukah and Pesach blessings. In Kindergarten students are introduced to the concept of Tzedakah (acts of justice/righteousness). Each week, Tzedakah money will be collected in class. The students will understand that tzedakah means doing acts of justice and righteousness, and at various times during the year they will help decide how and where the class tzedakah funds will be used.
